The proposed design update modifies the ideal street cross section to reduce the impacts to existing buildings and features that would be costly to move.

The design is based on the 2017 Aloha Tomorrow Plan.

We will improve Alexander Street, between 178th and 192nd avenues, with:

  • Curbs, separated bike lanes and sidewalks
  • Parallel parking or landscape strips
  • Improved storm water drainage and water quality facilities
  • Updated signs, striping, streetlights and landscaping
  • A pedestrian/bike crossing with signal across 185th Avenue

The design cross sections below show how the design is modified from the Aloha Tomorrow Plan. The middle cross section (below) will used through most of the project area. The third cross section would be used near 185th Avenue.

The cross section proposed in the Aloha Tomorrow plan recommended:

  • 9-foot-wide sidewalk
  • 6-foot-wide separated bike path
  • 7-foot-side planter strip or parallel parking
  • 11-foot-wide vehicle lanes

The modified cross section has:

  • 6-foot-wide sidewalk
  • 6-foot-wide separated bike path
  • 8-foot-side planter strip or parallel parking
  • 11-foot-wide vehicle lanes

An alternate cross section may be selected near 185th Avenue to allow larger trucks to turn safely:

  • 6-foot-wide sidewalk
  • 5-foot-wide separated bike path
  • 8-foot-side planter strip or parallel parking
  • 12-foot-wide vehicle lanes
